Leading railway distributor Industry-Railway Suppliers, Inc. (IRS) and ALCEA USA recently recognized its 30-year partnership of providing security solutions to the railway industry. IRS distributes products to all Class One, regionals, shortlines, locomotive and car repair facilities, contractors and transit systems, and the partnership began when their Class One customers asked for a better security solution.
”Our customers requested a more secure lock than what was currently available from our existing suppliers at the time. ABLOY (now ALCEA) was able to offer more advanced solutions for many applications,” recalls IRS president Scott Commo.

Industry-Railway Suppliers, Inc. was founded in 1966 to service the needs of the railroads, including railroad maintenance facilities, shortlines and railroad contractors, in the eastern U.S. IRS later opened an office in the Chicago area in 1978 to service the western U.S. market. Company headquarters moved to a larger facility in suburban Elmhurst in 2016 to position IRS for future growth and to satisfy growing demands from the industry.
